Summertime means holidays, weddings and days out in the sun - and lots of occasions when you want your hair to look its best. Now’s the perfect time to start a new haircare routine to get your locks looking lovely in time for summer. Here are our five top tips to help you achieve heavenly hair.
 
1. Watch how you wash
Over-washing can damage your hair, particularly if it’s been coloured. Everyday washing strips your hair of the natural oils and proteins that keep it healthy, so try to limit washing your hair to three times a week.
 
Find a shampoo that is designed for your hair type, whether you have bouncing curls or sleek and straight locks. Look out for natural shampoos, free from SLS and parabens.
 
2. Turn down the heat
Regular styling with a hairdryer, straightening iron or curling tongs can take its toll on your hair. If you are using heat, always use a heat protection product to prevent damage.
 
If possible, give your hair a break from heat styling a few times a week, and when using a hairdryer, don’t hold it too close to your hair as this can cause split ends.
 
3. Brush for beautiful hair
One simple secret to shiny hair is to make sure you brush it twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed. Brush for about a minute to keep your hair tangle-free and healthy.
 
Brushing when wet can cause hair to break, so use a wide tooth comb after washing to detangle without damaging your locks. Remember to keep your brushes clean too. Once a month, shampoo them to remove dirt, oil and any build up of hair products.
 
4. Keep it conditioned
It can be easy to skip conditioner when you’re short on time, but conditioner is crucial for healthy hair.
 
Towel dry your hair after shampooing to ensure your hair absorbs the conditioner. Then apply to the mid-lengths and ends of your hair, never the roots, as this can cause your hair to become greasy.
 
5. Give you hair an extra boost
